The Honda / Acura NSX is often considered one of the best, if not the best, JDM supercars never made. Over the years, Acura has built a few special editions, like this supercharged 1999 edition of the Acura NSX Alex Zanardi. This car is the 30 of 51 in total built to commemorate Zanardi’s back-to-back CART Championships in what were Honda powered cars, and this 1999 car has just 78,000 miles on the clock.
Originally sold from Wisconsin
This Acura NSX arrived new at Acura of Brookfield, Wisconsin, and the current seller was able to acquire the car in 2019. It had a recent overhaul, which included an oil change and a coolant flush. The spark plugs, compressor bearing and ball joints are also new to this service.
All Zanardi Edition models of the NSX left the factory in New Formula Red with a fixed roof, and this is no exception to this rule. The car also has a lightweight rear spoiler, as well as a single-pane rear window to save weight. In the previous owner, the car was fitted with HID headlights and oval tailpipes.
The seller also reports a knock on the right rear quarter panel, which luckily is quite minor and does not detract from the overall appearance.
The glorious interior is immaculate
Inside, the NSX is a stunning interior, with power seats trimmed in Onyx leather and beautiful red stitching accentuating the black. There is a lot of equipment in the NSX, such as air conditioning, power windows, a titanium gearshift knob and an RM Racing harness bar.
For those who like to listen to music on the go, the NSX comes equipped with a factory stereo with a trunk-mounted CD changer, and the sound system is a pretty solid Bose system.
Power and glory under the hood
However, the centerpiece of the NSX is this engine, and in this car it’s in great condition. The 3.2-liter V6 engine underwent a rebuild in 2009, and it also underwent some modifications. It now features a Basch Boost supercharger kit, forged pistons and a Billy Boat stainless steel muffler to name just a few of the modifications. It is of course a rear-wheel drive thanks to a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential.
The Zanardi NSX Edition is an incredibly rare car, and it’s an equally rare opportunity to own one of the most special versions of one of parent company Honda’s best cars ever to be made.
