SKF introduces new ball bearings for food processing equipment

SKF recently launched a new range of ball bearings to improve hygiene, performance and compliance with food safety regulations.

Food Line ball bearings feature a hygienic design that incorporates high performance grease and a unique sealing system with full sealing to reduce the risk of bacteria build-up in hard-to-clean areas and minimize the spread of bacteria during processing. cleaning.

Highly cleanable bearings do not require relubrication, eliminating the cost of re-greasing equipment and labor. Since there is no need to shut down equipment for lubrication activities and less time is required to clean up excess grease, bearing units can also increase production uptime.

In addition, Food Line ball bearings are designed to last longer, which can reduce the cost and frequency of bearing replacement.

“Traditional relubrication, washing and dry cleaning of bearings can create hidden ways in which contaminants thrive, such as airborne droplets, sewage or contaminated grease,” said Victoria van Camp, CTO of SKF and President of Innovation and Business Development. “Eliminating these food safety threats requires a different approach to hygienic design, and that’s what Food Line ball bearings are designed to deliver.”
