Boom! Studios has announced a new buffy the vampire slayer comic book series, except it won’t include the iconic character, Buffy. The new comic series is titled The Vampire Slayer and it will take place in the Buffyverse.
The comic series is written by Sarah Galey (eat the rich, magic for liars) and Irene Flores (just beyond) provides the illustration. According to Boom’s press release, The Vampire Slayer begins “a new era for the chosen one as she faces an impossible choice and a danger so potent it threatens the lives of everyone and everything.” which is dear to him”.
Here is the full plot summary: “After the events of the past few years, battling the forces of evil non-stop, Buffy Summers finds herself succumbing to the burden of wearing the mantle of the Slayer. To help his Slayer, Rupert Giles risks turning to chaos magic. , and with Willow’s help, they attempt a spell to remove the trauma from Buffy’s psyche. But the effects backfire and leave Buffy unable to remember her past or her purpose! With Sunnydale under attack, a surprising new slayer must rise to protect the world, while Buffy’s friends race against time to find her true self before it’s too late…”
It’s an interesting story, some elements of which seem to have appeared in an episode of the buffy the vampire slayer series. The series is set to launch after the upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer 25th Anniversary Special.
